HERE’S A BIT MORE ABOUT US.

MEET THE TEAM

  • Owner and Head Coach

Born in Calgary, Riley grew up playing for the Glenlake hawks and Calgary Royals. Riley went on to sign with the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL following his U18AAA year, where he would spend 3 years, capping off his junior career with an AJHL championship, Centennial Cup appearance, and Hockey Canada Most Sportsmanlike Player Award.

Riley has now made the transition from playing to coaching as an assistant coach with the Calgary Canucks, specializing in Player Development and Skills.

“Hockey has been my life since I took my first stride 18 years ago. Along with playing, I quickly grew a passion for coaching as well. Starting in 2016, i’ve spent many years assisting coaches, camps and programs around Calgary, before starting rush in January of 2023.”

“As my passion for the game grew, I dedicated myself to hockey, finding myself training year round.I discovered that I improved and learned the most in an individual or small group setting where I could get the repetition and attention on the areas needing improvement. This is the foundation of rush. We believe that athletes develop and thrive in a small group setting, surrounded by passionate coaches!”

  • Assistant Coach

Ty grew up in High River and cut his teeth with the Foothills Bisons and Okotoks Oilers. He went on to spend three seasons in the AJHL, starting with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons before being traded to the Calgary Canucks. With the Canucks, he capped off his junior career in style — winning the AJHL championship, earning AJHL Playoff MVP honours, and competing for a national title at the Centennial Cup.

He’s now continuing both his hockey and academic journeys in NCAA Division I with Lindenwood University, where he’s majoring in Exercise Science with the goal of working in strength and conditioning.

Ty has been coaching for more than five years, including the past season with Rush.

“Hockey is something I look forward to every day — playing it, training for it, or helping someone else get better at it. My passion for the game hasn’t faded, and I love sharing it with players who are just as driven.

“I’m a details guy. I’m always breaking down the small parts of the game, and I try to pass along the tips, tricks, and habits I’ve picked up over my career to the next generation of athletes.”

  • Assistant Coach

Being born and raised in Calgary, Ethan came up through the Glenlake Hawks and the Calgary Royals. He went on to spend two seasons with the Humboldt Broncos in the SJHL, wearing the “C” in his second year. That same season he was selected to play for Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge, and he capped off his junior career by earning the Broncos’ Most Valuable Player award.

Ethan is now continuing both his education and his playing career at Lindenwood University, competing at the NCAA Division I level. He’s majoring in Health and Wellness and plans to move into strength and conditioning once his playing days are done.

Alongside playing, Ethan has built up experience behind the bench, including coaching with Rush this past year.

“Hockey has been a huge part of my life, and I know it will continue to be through coaching. The game has already taught me so much, and I’m grateful for that. I’ve realized I learn just as much from coaching as I do from playing. Getting to pass along what I know to players who love the game the same way I do is something special.

“When I’m on the ice with younger players, I can see how much potential there is and it fires me up to help them. I’ve been fortunate to have great coaches throughout my career, and it’s humbling to be in a position now where I can give back and help guide the next group of athletes.”
